DEMAGNETIZING IN THE AEROSPACE AND MILITARY SECTORS AND IN RESEARCH
Components of space probes and satellites have to be demagnetized and tested for magnetic cleanliness. Otherwise there would be severe interference with the highly sensitive equipment for measuring magnetic fields which these probes and satellites carry.
Marine magnetism: The magnetic signature of ships and submarines has to be kept as weak as possible, so that it cannot be detected by magnetic sensors. For this reason all ferromagnetic components are thoroughly demagnetized.
Research institutes concerned with the measurement of very small physical dimensions (e.g. determining the mass of neutrinos), depend on the lowest possible magnetism in their noise-free laboratories.
